Role PurposeThe Staff LPN Ambulatory is responsible for providing direct patient care under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider in an ambulatory care setting. Assigned tasks may include rooming patients, obtaining vitals, administering medications in‑office, initiating/discontinuing IV fluids, performing point‑of‑care lab testing, assisting with procedures and triaging patient phone calls. All responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with applicable state regulations.
Responsibilities- Provides general nursing services to patients under the supervision of a physician or other licensed provider within the scope of practice for the LPN.
- Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point‑of‑care testing and medication administration. Assists with medical office procedures and initiating/discontinuing IV fluids as directed.
- Follows HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, Medication Management and Infection Prevention procedures for cleaning and sterilization of equipment and/or instruments.
- Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
- Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
- BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with IV certification
- None required of experience, supervisor experience, or additional education beyond aforementioned credentials.
- Associate or Trade School education related to Nursing
