Job Summary

Responsible for scheduling hospital-based procedures/surgeries in accordance with physician’s orders and insurance requirements, ensuring all necessary paperwork and required tests needed prior to surgery are accurately completed, and clearly communicated pre- and post-surgery instructions to patients. Ensures reconciliation of all dropped charges to ensure they match authorized procedures and escalate to appropriate parties, if necessary. Responsible for maintaining and managing resources, including insurance portal access, and provides consistent documentation in EPIC to support the obtained insurance authorization.

Communicates changes in payer and or federal regulatory guidelines to their manager, pharmacy staff, providers and other clinical departments, as applicable. Travel to regional offices required, as needed.

Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Computer skills; experience with practice management software preferred
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate in other languages is highly desirable
