Job Goal: To support special education students in the classroom and on internship sites through modeling, training, fading, and data collection.
Responsibilities- Support special education students in classroom and internship settings.
- Model instructional strategies, provide training, and implement behavior plans.
- Collect, record, and analyze student data.
- Assist teachers with instructional and support tasks.
- Help maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Associate’s degree or 2 years of college diploma or equivalent (Para Professional Assessment).
- Ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and teachers.
- Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
- Prior experience working with students with physical disabilities preferred.
- Skills:
ability to lift up to 40 lbs without assistance; eligibility for a public service license. - High school education and experience working with children or adults with disabilities.
- Salary: $24.18 - $28.26 per hour, dependent upon experience (FPSEU contract).
- Schedule:
6.5 hours per day, school year. - Location:
Avon, CT. - Work Hours:
6.5 hours per day plus unpaid 30-minute lunch. - Terms:
180-day work year following Simsbury School Calendar. - Job is full-time school year with benefits (details available).
