Game Stop is seeking a Full Time Assistant Store Manager for Store 0585. This role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, promotes a sales culture, builds guest loyalty, and supervises sales associates and keyholders.
Responsibilities- Provide best-in-class guest service, greet guests, answer questions, recommend items, and thank guests for shopping.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and return transactions accurately using the POS computer system, provide receipts, and ensure top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, and when appropriate, elevate issues to the Store Manager.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates and training associates in all aspects of their job responsibilities.
- Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance.
- Provide timely and appropriate recognition and feedback to all associates, and regularly input written feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure all associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift on their own.
- Schedule associates, ensure break and meal guidelines are followed, and supervise staffing levels to achieve optimum guest service.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify associates are paid for all time worked.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and merchandised store, ensuring all fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill and ship omni‑channel orders daily, protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, and deliver bank deposits as required.
- Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals, and complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Perform store inventory counts, stock and restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stock room to the front of the store.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals correctly in the POS system, and ensure the store has sufficient cash and change for sales transactions.
- Verify all shipments for discrepancies or shortages, conduct merchandise counts, and communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager or District Manager.
- Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, identify hazardous situations, and report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat and organized manner, and keep manuals up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
