Design Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to support material handling, facility layout, and manufacturing optimization initiatives. This role focuses on developing efficient material flow processes, storage layouts, labor requirements, and facility concepts while supporting implementation on the plant floor. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop material handling processes, facility layouts, and associated labor requirements
- Design material storage area layouts and perform supporting data analysis
- Create and maintain 2D AutoCAD layouts to optimize storage space and workstation requirements
- Analyze and optimize material flow, warehouse space, and storage strategies
- Develop facility and space requirements based on operational needs
- Follow up on concepts and layouts to achieve stakeholder buy‑off
- Oversee implementation of approved concepts and provide ongoing plant support
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including kaizen events and value stream mapping
- 4+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience (5‑7+ years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of material handling systems and material planning
- PFEP (Plan for Every Part) data analysis
- Warehouse and storage space optimization strategies
- Lean manufacturing principles
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach
- Microsoft Access experience
- Experience with MODAPTS, Value Stream Mapping, material flow analysis, kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives, Six Sigma methodologies
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
