We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS and/or AVs for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in our Farmington Hills, MI office. In this role, you will work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance (e.g., emissions, fuel economy, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), drivability, acceleration);

federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products. You will have the opportunity to ultimately develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.

• Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work; and identifying business development opportunities
• Developing and managing client relationships
• Project and cost management on casework
• Setting up and executing various test programs, including full‑scale vehicle tests and component or control system evaluations
• Continuing to develop specialized expertise in automotive technology such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology
• Managing, mentoring, and providing project work for junior consulting staff
• Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice

• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of work experience in ADAS, AVs, and/or vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deployment
• Currently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
• Ability to generate business and manage client relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non‑technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner
• Strong leadership and communication skills and experience mentoring junior staff
• Field and/or lab measurement experience with good hands‑on skills
• Versatile, team‑oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
