An examination will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Paris Junior College McLemore Student Center Ballroom, 2400 Clarksville St., Paris, Texas for the position of Probationary Firefighter in the Paris Fire Department.
Applications and Study Guides may be obtained at the City of Paris Finance Office, 135 1st S.E., Paris, Texas 75460, 8:00 a.m.
-5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday or on the City of Paris website istexas.gov. All completed applications for testing must be received in the Civil Service Director’s Office by Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. A photo be required prior to being admitted to the testing facility.
To qualify as an applicant eligible for employment with the Paris Fire Department, the applicant must:
Applicants who are veterans of any branch of the United States Armed Services, are eligible for (5) bonus points provided they show proof of an Honorable discharge (DD-214) and served on active duty for at least 180 days exclusive of any training time.
Applicants who are veterans must provide a hard copy of their DD-214 to the City of Paris Civil Service Director before the test begins.
Preference will be given to those persons on the eligibility list who are certified or certifiable by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a basic firefighter and who hold a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B). Hard copy proof for our files must be provided before the exam begins.
The eligibility list created by this examination will be in effect for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of the examination, unless the list is exhausted prior to that time.
