Location

Faringdon, Oxfordshire

Days and Hours

Permanent full-time role. 36.75 hours per week – 24.5 hours for care shifts and 12.25 hours for administrative duties (please note the administrative hours will be reviewed where this is a new position). Typical shift patterns are Days, 7.45am‑8pm and Waking nights, 7.45pm‑8am. A combination of shifts will be worked including weekends. Hours will be discussed at interview.

Pay

£20.20 per hour for Team Leader administrative duties and £17.17 per hour for care shifts.

Driver Required

Applicants need their own car to get to work due to the location of the client's home. Driving Client's Car – there is not currently a need to drive the client's car. There is a possibility in the future there may be a need to drive the Client's automatic Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV). Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes (if licence held) to attend training and supervision.

Supervision can be held virtually.

Essential Experience

Leading a care team, complex medical needs and supporting a person through waking nights.

Desirable Experience

Experience working with adults with complex needs and an interest in therapy.

Pets

1 dog but it lives within the family home on the same site (adjacent to the client).

Accommodation (while on duty)

Fully adapted family home.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dynamic, creative Care Team Leader/Support Worker to join our team in supporting a vibrant young man with physical and developmental challenges.

Client

Our client is a 25‑year‑old who thrives in an environment full of activity and engagement. He communicates by a variety of movements and facial expressions. He experiences epileptic seizures which vary greatly and require constant monitoring. He is wheelchair dependent, living in a fully adapted home with his family, and requires 2:1 support for all his personal and daily care needs (he cannot be left unattended).

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a close‑knit team that works collaboratively to enhance his quality of life through meaningful interaction, therapeutic activities, and structured routines.

Care Team Leader Responsibilities
  • Lead and co‑coordinate a team of Support Workers, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Manage rotas, annual leave and absences, update care plans, supervise staff, maintain care records and monitor training and competency levels of staff.
  • Work closely with our client’s family, the Case Manager and multidisciplinary team including therapists.
  • Assist with the organisation of appointments and assist our client’s family with any administrative tasks relating to our client.
  • Ensure our client’s equipment is maintained as appropriate.
Support Worker Responsibilities
  • Engage in daily activities: help plan and participate in activities that stimulate and entertain, ensuring every day is filled with moments of joy.
  • Provide essential care, including preparing and giving all food and drinks for our client, personal care, moving and handling, and medication administration, while ensuring his safety and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with professionals: work with therapists and the family to implement physio, speech and language therapy, OT, hydrotherapy and other therapeutic programs, making each session interactive and enjoyable.
  • Create a lively atmosphere that encourages the client’s participation in all aspects of his routine.
