John* – You’ll be supporting John, a vibrant individual with complex needs who is moving into a specially adapted home. John lives in a single‑occupancy home which is purpose‑adapted to meet his complex needs. He loves going out every Friday for KFC, trips to cafés and drives. His dad is a big part of his life, so family involvement is key and often has family visiting him.
When he is not out and about enjoying himself, he usually likes being at home listening to music (especially classical), Disney films, colouring, and outdoor fun like trampolining and swings in the garden. Routine is very important to James.
* Please note, the real name has been changed to protect the individual's identity confidentiality.
You’ll be making a real impact with a person who has:
- Learning disabilities, including using communication tools like Makaton or PECs
- Experience with individuals with autism and/or visual impairments
- Behavior that is highly challenged and the application of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
From January 2026 to end of March 2026, you’ll need to travel to Birmingham (B38 area) during his transition before he moves to Drayton, Abingdon in April 2026. We will pay towards travel during this transition period.
