- TIG Welding:
Perform TIG welding on aluminum materials, utilizing precise heat control and filler metal to create strong and aesthetically appealing welds. - Weld Preparation:
Clean and prepare aluminum surfaces for welding, removing contaminants that could affect quality. - Material Inspection:
Examine and verify the integrity of aluminum materials to ensure they meet required quality standards before welding. - Welding Parameters:
Set up and adjust equipment, selecting the appropriate torch, gas flow, and amperage based on thickness and type of aluminum. - Weld Quality Control:
Inspect finished welds for defects using visual inspection and non‑destructive testing methods as required. - Welding Joints:
Work with butt, lap, and fillet welds, depending on project specifications. - Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines while performing TIG welding, ensuring compliance with company and industry regulations. - Work Environment:
Operate in workshops, fabrication facilities, or construction sites, depending on project requirements. - Material Handling:
Safely handle and move aluminum materials and welded components during the welding process. - Production Monitoring:
Monitor workflow, address deviations, and maintain production reports, tally sheets, and scrap reports. Must understand job orders and interact with Epicor. - Documentation:
Record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities for process improvement. - Collaboration:
Work with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines. - Process Improvement:
Seek opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall efficiency while maintaining high quality. - Read and execute SOPs necessary to properly operate equipment and manufacture the product.
- Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain hand tools, troubleshoot equipment, and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment. - Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
- Must have 6" steel toe leather boots.
- Must have experience in primarily TIG welding and MIG welding.
- Proficiency in TIG welding techniques on aluminum to produce high‑quality welds with minimal defects.
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with different grades and types of aluminum and their corresponding welding requirements.
- Two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Weld small and large components such as steel tubing, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend plant directives written in English.
- High school diploma required; technical secondary education preferred.
- Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc., and keep accurate account of materials used during manufacturing.
- Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Frequent lifting, standing, bending, and reaching required.
- Able to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug test.
- Must adhere to all PPE requirements to perform the job safely, including eye, hand, feet, and hearing protection.
