Packet Digital is a U.S. battery engineering and manufacturing company building high-performance lithium-ion battery cells and packs for drones and autonomous systems. Through its Badland Batteries division, the company is vertically integrating domestic cell production in Fargo, North Dakota, pairing electrochemistry R&D and embedded BMS development with scalable U.S. manufacturing. Packet has served the Department of Defense for more than 20 years and is poised to become the leading producer of NDAA-compliant UAS batteries.
JobPurpose
As VP of Sales you will lead the next phase of revenue growth.
- Scale American-made battery pack sales into defense and commercial UAS markets.
- Own and deepen relationships with existing customers.
- Develop and sell our domestically manufactured cells to battery pack houses.
This role establishes dedicated commercial leadership as we move from CEO-led sales to institutionalized growth. We want a doer and a builder.
Key Responsibilities Revenue Growth- Win new accounts – driving forward relationships with commitment
- Secure production contracts and multi-year supply agreements with design wins and off the shelf products
- Develop a structured sales strategy providing battery cells to independent pack houses
- Negotiate commercial terms aligned with long-term margin and production capacity
- Deliver accurate forecasts tied to manufacturing realities
- Build and sustain long-term, trusted relationships with OEMs, defense integrators, and prime contractors; closely understand their problems to offer better solutions
- Manage day-to-day relationships with customers from order to executive engagement
- Partner with the CEO on Department of Defense and prime contractor CSOs and proposals
- Collaborate across company functions (R&D, engineering, manufacturing) to develop ambitious proposals
- Build and lead a focused sales organization adding to team as justified
- Implement pipeline discipline, CRM rigor, and forecasting standards
- Embrace shared values of collaborative engagement and integrity
- Translate customer requirements into prioritized product improvements
- Partner with engineering to align performance, requirements, and cost objectives
- Collect competitive intelligence on market including competitive positioning, pricing, supply and demand in order to inform company’s strategy
- 10+ years of B2B/ B2G sales experience in hardware, energy storage, aerospace/defense, or advanced manufacturing sectors
- Someone who brings passion and commitment to customers and American manufacturing
- Demonstrated success closing complex, multi-stakeholder, long-cycle sales
- Proven track record of building high-trust durable, long-term customer relationships
- Working fluency in power systems and battery fundamentals is a nice to have
- Direct DoD sales experience preferred; otherwise demonstrated success in regulated, high-accountability environments
- Bachelor’s degree required; technical background preferred;
Master’s or MBA valued - Willingness to travel extensively (>60%)
