Job Details
• Work setting is an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital CVICU/IMC unit (5C/D) with 32 beds,
• Manages a critically ill patient population including neuro, cardiac, CT surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical patients,
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in the CVICU,
• 12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule based on unit needs; schedule rotations are managed to minimize frequent day/night flipping,
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required,
• Floating may be required to other critical care departments including Intermediate ICU (up to 4:1 ratio) and Broadway ICU (up to 3:1 ratio), as well as med/surg units as needed,
• Epic EMR used; experience required,
• Equipment used includes Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG Feeding pumps, IABP, EVD, Philips Patient Monitoring Systems, Ava Sure Patient Monitoring, and Impella,
Job Requirements
• Active ND or compact RN license required,
• Current AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• NIHSS certification required,
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a 200+ bed, Level 1 trauma hospital,
• Demonstrated experience titrating vasopressor drips required (must be reflected on resume or skills checklist),
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years,
• All certifications must be active at time of consideration; no pending certifications accepted,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include independent management of 1-3 critically ill patients and administration/titration of vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips,
• Candidates must be able to assist with bedside procedures including RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, line placement, and other diagnostic tests,
• Orientation totals 32 hours: 8 hours of hospital orientation, 8 hours on unit 5C/D, 4 hours in the Intermediate ICU, and 12 hours in the Broadway ICU, all completed during the first week of the assignment,
• Navy scrubs are required,
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date,
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position,
• Navy scrubs required,
