American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a ND or compact RN license, 12-hour night shifts, and strong med-surg experience in a large, high-acuity setting.

Job Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Resource Team/Float Pool across acute care hospital units,

• Cares for adult patients in various med-surg specialty units including oncology, trauma, cardiac, neuro, observation, and medical behavioral,

• Float between all med-surg units and across multiple hospital campuses as needed,

• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend and holiday required,

• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 during most hours and 1:5-6 overnight,

• Primary EMR used is Epic, with experience required,

• Utilize equipment such as Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vital sign monitors,

Job Requirements

• Active ND or compact state RN license required,

• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required,

• Minimum 1 year of recent med-surg experience in a large hospital setting with at least 200 beds,

• Float pool experience is preferred,

• Prior experience in a Level 2 or higher trauma center is required,

• Epic EMR experience required,

• Will not consider first-time travelers unless primary experience is in resource pool/float pool roles,

• Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility; those within 60-80 miles will be considered at a local travel rate,

Additional Information

• Duties include head-to-toe assessments, medication administration by various routes, care plan formulation and documentation, as well as wound, line, and drain care,

• Assignments may include med-surg overflow spaces and med-surg status patients in critical care units,

• Hospital units have between 24 to 47 beds depending on the department,

• Initial training includes one shift orientation at two separate hospital campuses and campus tours during the first week,

• Navy blue scrubs are required,

• Must badge in and out of the facility for each shift,

• Returning employees must not have worked at any Sanford Health location within 6 months prior to consideration,
