Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a ND or compact RN license, BLS (AHA) certification, and recent experience in large, fast-paced hospital settings.
Responsibilities- Work in the Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool within an acute care hospital
- Patients are assigned to various med-surg units including oncology, trauma, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during days/evenings and 1:5-6 at night
- Units may range from 24 to 47 beds depending on the assignment
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
- Floating required to all med-surg units and campuses in Fargo, including Broadway, SMCF, and South University
- Epic EMR is used; experience is required
- Equipment includes Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vital machines
- Daily responsibilities include head-to-toe assessments, medication administration, care planning and documentation, wound, line, and drain care
- Must be willing to float within the med-surg cluster and between hospital campuses
- Training includes one full shift on each of the Broadway and SMCF med-surg units, along with team expectations and campus tours
- Compliance with badge in/out procedures is required
- Navy blue scrubs must be worn
- Holiday coverage is required on a rotating schedule
- Not eligible for consideration if previously employed by this health system unless separated for more than 6 months
- Active ND or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 1 year recent med-surg experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds
- Previous float pool experience is preferred
- Experience with in a Level 2 or higher trauma center required
- Recent experience in a large, fast-paced hospital with more than 250 beds
- Epic charting experience required
- Cannot accept travelers living within a 60 mile radius of the facility; local travel rate applies for those living 60-80 miles away
