Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN with at least one year of recent med/surg experience and an active ND or compact license to join a Level 1 trauma acute care unit specializing in medical-surgical and surgical oncology patients.
Responsibilities- Work in a 47-bed acute care medical-surgical unit with a focus on medical-surgical and surgical oncology patients
- Unit is located within a Level 1 trauma center
- Night shifts with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend required
- Nurse to patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Uses EPIC for electronic charting as well as Accu Dose, Bladder Scanner, Phillips monitors, and telemetry equipment
- Home unit is 5SE but floating to other med/surg units on any campus may be required
- Provide care for both general med/surg and surgical oncology patients
- Collaborate with an interprofessional team including physicians to develop and evaluate patient care plans
- Initial orientation includes 1 day of lead center training and 2 twelve-hour shifts with a preceptor
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must not reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility, and those living 60-80 miles away will be considered at a local travel rate
- Applicants with previous employment at this health system must have a minimum end date of six months prior to being considered
- Active ND or compact state RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
- Experience with EPIC EMR required
- Previous experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds and in a Level 2 or higher trauma setting required
- Surgical oncology experience preferred but not required
