Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med Surg Cardiac night shift position requiring a ND or compact RN license and recent large hospital experience.

• Work in a 32-bed acute care Med Surg Cardiac unit within a Level 1 trauma hospital
• Patient ratio is 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• Will float to any med/surg unit at three local medical centers as needed
• Uses Epic EMR, Omnicell, and Alaris IV pumps
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Self-scheduling is allowed, but schedule may be adjusted to meet unit needs
• Duties include patient assessments, documentation, medication administration, and completion of nursing tasks
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Scrub color for the unit is navy blue
• Holiday coverage is required as scheduled
• Careful scheduling to avoid frequent rotation between day and night shifts
• First-time travelers are considered

• Active ND or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year recent Med Surg experience in a hospital with 250+ beds
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications, or willingness to obtain NIHSS prior to start
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Cardiac experience preferred but not required
• Candidates must not live within 60 miles of the facility; those within 60-80 miles receive local rate
• Previous Sanford Health employees must not have worked there in the last 6 months
