Become a Specialty Pharmacy Technician-in-Training where you will be enrolled in Thrifty White’s ASHP/ACPE approved Pharmacy Technician Training Program! Work full-time in our Central Refill Patient Care Center while learning the fundamentals of specialty pharmacy.

As a Thrifty White Pharmacy Technician-in-Training, you will receive top-notch, multifaceted training through online modules, internal video trainings, and hands-on training with a designated preceptor — all at no cost to you! Candidates must be willing to complete all training, registration, licensing, and certification requirements within the timeline provided by the State Board of Pharmacy.

As an industry leader in innovation, our employee owners have developed specialty pharmacy programs that allow technicians to expand their skills beyond traditional retail practice. This role provides exposure to specialty medications, prior authorizations, insurance coordination, patient assistance programs, and centralized prescription fulfillment.

Responsibilities
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients, medical providers, and internal pharmacy teams
  • Maintaining accurate prescription and patient information within specialty pharmacy systems
  • Inputting and processing prescriptions for accurate billing and transmission to insurance plans
  • Completing benefits investigations and assisting with prior authorization coordination
  • Troubleshooting rejected or underpaid insurance claims, including Medicare Part B and Part D
  • Facilitating patient financial assistance programs and ensuring documentation requirements are met
  • Contacting patients to coordinate refills, delivery scheduling, and ancillary supply needs
  • Assisting in the filling and preparation of specialty prescriptions, including medications requiring special handling
  • Preparing prescriptions for shipment using approved carriers to ensure timely, accurate, and trackable delivery
  • Supporting inventory management, ordering, and proper storage of specialty medications
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patient information at all times
  • Demonstrating flexibility in new or changing workflows, technologies, and responsibilities
  • Supporting Central Fill operations and other departments as needed
  • Maintaining good attendance and punctuality to fulfill essential job functions
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be currently registered/certified as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to become certified per state requirements
  • Possess strong attention to detail and customer service skills
  • Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
