Department Details

PRN position will help cover CPR classes at the new Amber Valley facility. In additional to teaching CPR classes this instructor will help with our Explorer program and mentoring students.

Job Summary

Emergency Medical Services Educator (EMS Educator) will provide emergency medical services (EMS) education through Sanford to internal/external customers. Responsible for providing technical and/or clinical knowledge and expertise in EMS-based scenarios in a simulated environment. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Knowledge of various media, communication, pass on techniques, methods, and be able to facilitate simulation learning and participate in debriefing as well as other learning methodologies.

This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

Serve as a simulator operator or clinical expert running pre-programmed scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring all equipment is set up for course programs.

Strong interpersonal communication skills and will be providing training for individuals and teams utilizing adult learning principles. Team-oriented, student focused, and self-directed. Ability to troubleshoot potential issues with the simulation equipment and vehicles, possess effective collaborative skills, a strong organization ability and the ability to prioritize.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Knowledgeable of current clinical practice and be actively engaged in incorporating current research and evidence-based practice into learning activities.

Additional responsibilities will include coordinating programs, course and class schedules, participating in simulation training for educational programs, serving as a mentor and educator for faculty and staff, assuring all equipment is in working order, participating in product-specific vendor training, reporting any concerns with equipment or vehicle in a timely manner, and maintaining all requirements, licensure and certification.

Physical activities include, but not limited to, considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25-30lbs. May require standing three to four hours at a time while teaching.

Qualifications

High school or equivalent (GED) required;
Associates degree in emergency medical services (EMS) or similar area of study preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, BLS Instructor, or nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher required.

Depending on state requirements, individuals may need to have a state license.

Based on the level of classes taught, educational, certifications, and experience background as appropriate to class offering.

May need to have National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Instructor, American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor.
