Salary Range: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
Shifts: 7:00pm-7:30am and 11:30pm-7:30am, every other weekend and every other holiday rotation

Job Summary

The Monitor Tech provides support services, including basic computer keyboarding, tearing down and assembling patient charts, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures, and stocking supplies. The monitor tech monitors and interprets patient heart rhythms and vital signs, follows algorithm parameters that may raise alarms, interprets alarms and follows through with appropriate communication, and is familiar with organizational policies and procedures.

May have access to medications for distribution to licensed personnel and perform reception duties such as answering phones and using a multi-line telephone system. Must prioritize work, handle stress, perform detailed tasks efficiently, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with other team members.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic computer keyboarding tasks.
  • Take patient charts down and assemble them as required.
  • Call other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures.
  • Stock supplies for patient care areas.
  • Monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs.
  • Follow established algorithm parameters for patient monitoring.
  • Interpret alarms and communicate with nursing staff as needed.
  • Answer phones and use a multi-line telephone system.
  • Summon nursing staff if necessary and provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
  • Maintain organized records and prioritize work under stress.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Experience in healthcare is helpful.
  • Previous clerical/business services, communications equipment, and computer entry experience desirable but not required.
