LPN, Medical Assistant or MA Apprentice General Surgery Clinic

Job Description:

Seeking a licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant, or a motivated and driven individual who can commit to our medical assistant apprenticeship program. This employee will serve in Essentia Health's General Surgery Clinic in our 32nd Avenue Building in Fargo, North Dakota. Schedule is 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required.

Medical Assistant Apprentice (flat rate of $19 hourly):

Under the guidance of a Certified Medial Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor works at an entry-level, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. As an apprentice, the Clinical Assistant in Training will perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.

The apprentice will also complete online learning modules outside of working hours. Upon completion of this training program, the apprentice will be prepared to become certified through the National Health Association’s CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) certification program. Essentia Health pays for all training program fees, textbooks, study materials, and supplies. Acceptance of this position requires apprentice to sign a payback agreement committing to working for Essentia Health as a Clinical Assistant for two full years after completion of their apprenticeship program.

LPN or Medical Assistant ($21.49-$32.24 based on experience):

• LPN:
  Current LPN license in the state of Minnesota upon hire.
• LPN:
  North Dakota LPN license required within 3 months of hire.
• CMA:
  Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.
• CMA:
  Must be registered as a Medication Assistant III through the North Dakota Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire/transfer. Clinical Assistant can NOT administer medication prior to being registered as a MAIII through the ND BON.
• Apprentice:
  Must enroll in the In-Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program (ICATAP) advancing through learning modules every 3 months for 12 months as skills are acquired to perform the Clinical Assistant position.
• Apprentice: CCMA Board Certification is required within 12 months of completing the apprentice education program and meeting the on-the-job hours requirement.
• ALL: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
