** Position includes clinic and OR dental assisting with a wide variety of cases. Day shift with no holidays, no weekends or call.
** Summary
* * Assists operating surgeons in carrying out technical surgical procedures in accordance with applicable safety laws and regulations.
** Job Description
** Assists operating surgeons with intra-operative procedures like homeostasis, exposure, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe procedure with optimal results for the patient. Develops specialized preoperative plans in coordination with appropriate surgeons and health team members. Prepares surgical tools and equipment, takes preventative measures to ensure applicable health and safety regulations are satisfied, and assist with patient positioning when necessary.

Administers preoperative medications and reports the responses of patients to assigned surgeons and anesthesiologists.
** Qualifications
* * Appropriate education level required in accordance with the state certification and/or licensure including appropriate accreditation programs and agencies.
Required to meet one of the following criteria:
1. Eligibility to sit for the certification of Surgical Assistant exam.
2. Within the unit of Oral Surgery, certified and registered Dental Assistant in the state of practice while also processing certification (or eligible to obtain) from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Anesthesia Assistants.
3. Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). 4. Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification through the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologist (NBCOT).
