Overview

The Brand and Creative Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the visual identity of our organization. This position is responsible for designing impactful graphics across a variety of platforms and ensuring consistent brand management. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a sharp design eye, strong attention to detail, a strong sense of typography and visual hierarchy, and a passion for using design to grow community through places, spaces, and experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Brand Stewardship & Visual Identity
    • Serve as a steward of the Fargo Park District brand, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment across all visual materials.
    • Develop, refine, and maintain logos and brand elements that clearly communicate the Park District's identity and values.
    • Ensure adherence to brand guidelines while thoughtfully evolving visual systems as needed.
    • Maintain and apply the Fargo Park District visual identity across all creative touchpoints.
    • Advocate for design excellence and brand consistency on every project.
    • Apply an understanding of ADA compliance and accessibility best practices in design.
    • Tell stories visually by conveying brand personality, tone, and messaging through design.
  • Graphic Design & Creative Production
    • Design and deliver high-quality creative assets for marketing, brand, and campaign initiatives, including social media graphics.
    • Create visually engaging layouts for reports, documents, marketing materials, and digital assets.
    • Design clear, effective indoor and outdoor signage that enhances way finding and user experience.
    • Develop user-friendly, visually appealing maps for facilities, parks, and events.
    • Create engaging, on-brand assets that reflect the Fargo Park District's personality and values.
    • Comfortably switch between design formats, platforms, and priorities while maintaining quality and consistency.
    • Coordinate with print vendors and external partners to ensure high-quality production and timely delivery of creative materials.
  • Presentations & Internal Communications
    • Design compelling PowerPoint and presentation materials that support storytelling, public engagement, and internal communication.
    • Collaborate with departments to translate complex ideas into clear, accessible visual content.
  • Digital Asset Management
    • Organize, maintain, and manage digital assets across platforms to ensure files are accessible, up to date, and brand compliant.
    • Support ongoing improvement of digital asset management practices, including file naming conventions, version control, and archiving.
  • Collaboration & Creative Support
    • Partner closely with Communications, Marketing, and program teams to bring ideas to life visually.
    • Support major initiatives, campaigns, and community projects with cohesive creative assets.
    • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously with cross-functional teams, while meeting deadlines, maintaining quality and keeping the end park user top of mind.
    • Collaborate and contribute to campaign ideation, creative brainstorms, and concept development.
    • Monitor industry trends and community culture to help inform creative direction and design decisions.
    • Support creative solutions that align with communication goals and improve audience engagement.
    • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders while maintaining creative integrity and brand standards.
Education/Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field and 3+ years of demonstrated experience in graphic design, including logos, layouts, presentations, signage, and event or campaign graphics is required or equivalent proven experience in a similar creative role.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and designing for multiple brands or sub-brands within a larger organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to balance creativity and consistency.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Clear communicator who can give and receive feedback with professionalism and diplomacy, and adapt communication style based on audience and project needs.
