Position
We are currently seeking a Catering Assistant to join our team at Ravenswood House to provide food services to our clients and assist with daily kitchen operations.
Responsibilities- Prepare fresh sandwiches, salads, and vegetables.
- Maintain cleanliness in the catering area in accordance with hygiene systems and standards.
- Provide counter service, sometimes serving meals to wards.
- Help prepare food as directed by the duty chef.
- Assist with regeneration of any food items as required and in accordance with our food safety policy.
- Maintain the washing up area in a clear and clean state throughout the day and ensure proper storage of items.
- Assist with the counter food service during mealtimes observing all required food hygiene processes.
- Help the chef as required to complete the food order.
- Work to maintain the standards of cleanliness and hygiene, adhering to standards in simply safe toolkit (SSTK) guidelines ensuring principals of hazard analysis are followed.
- Be aware of kitchen due diligence processes including recording systems for deliveries, fridges, and freezers, and food items.
- Record fridge, freezer, hot food and blast chilling temperatures onto SSTK forms daily, keeping them on file for 3 months.
- Understand the labelling system and correctly package and label foods for storage.
- Under the chef’s supervision, complete the daily, weekly and monthly tasks on the cleaning schedule.
- Assist the catering team with waste and food cost management, highlighting areas for savings.
- Previous kitchen experience preferred, but full training will be provided.
- Opportunity to pursue an NVQ Level 2 qualification.
Position is for 37.5 hours per week, across 5 out of 7 days, including early and late shifts, as well as weekends. Additional payments are offered for weekend and overtime work, along with a site bonus due to the nature of the site.
Team & EnvironmentYou will be part of a small team managed by the duty chef. There may be occasions where you are asked to work alone.
