Quality Engineer

Location:

North Hampshire (close to Farnham, Surrey) Salary: £36,000 Plus Benefits (Quarterly Bonus, Contributory Pension, 25 Days Holiday.)

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join a growing manufacturing environment where quality, innovation, and teamwork drive everything they do.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving products, processes, and customer satisfaction while working with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and supply chain. You will be leading a team of 5, reporting into the head of QHSE. This could be the ideal stepping stone for an ambitious Inspector or a QC Engineer looking for new responsibilities or a fresh challenge.

The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will help ensure products meet the highest standards by applying robust quality systems, statistical analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques.

You will be responsible for investigating issues, implementing improvements, and supporting the development of a culture focused on “Right First Time” quality and continuous improvement.

The business specialises in custom elastomer engineering and provides a comprehensive service for the design and manufacture of elastomer components. They produce the highest standards of quality and precision in moulded products, often working to tight dimensional tolerances not generally associated with the manufacture of mechanical rubbers. They produce bespoke, precision moulded parts for a range of industries and end users – from the automotive sector to the Defence industry – with Quality at the heart of everything they produce.

What You'll Be Doing

Quality Assurance & Product Integrity

· Supporting quality inspections for critical processes and new product launches

· Producing dimensional and performance reports for internal teams and customers

· Operating laboratory testing equipment and measurement tools

· Investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions

Continuous Improvement

· Using Lean and Six Sigma tools to drive process improvements

· Supporting SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP activities

· Analysing data to identify opportunities to reduce defects and improve efficiency

Customer & Supplier Quality

· Working with customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues

· Supporting supplier audits and customer quality reviews

· Contributing to responses for customer concerns

Collaboration & Leadership

· Working closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams

· Supporting internal quality training and knowledge sharing

· Helping build a strong quality culture across the organisation

What We're Looking For

Skills & Knowledge

· Previous experience of Plastic / Rubber Moulding and Component Production

· Previous leadership experience (managing inspectors and junior Quality Control personnel)

· Strong understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001)

· Experience with root cause analysis tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)

· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies

· Ability to read technical drawings and measurement data

· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience

· Experience in a precision manufacturing or engineering environment

· Hands-on experience with inspection, measurement, and quality analysis

· Involvement in customer or ISO audits

· Experience working on continuous improvement projects

Qualifications

· HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (preferred)
