Overview

Female Nurse Team Leader – Complex Care.

Location:

Fareham, Hampshire.

Start Date:

ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks).

Are you a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys professional, person-centred care? Verity is in her mid-40s and lives independently with 24-hour support. The Nurse Team Leader will bring clinical expertise, warmth and strong leadership to the care team that supports Verity in daily life.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, effective nursing care in Verity’s home and in the community.
  • Lead and co-ordinate a team of Support Workers, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Provide clinical interventions including PEG feeding, suctioning, respiratory care, catheter care and pressure care.
  • Monitor Verity’s health and respond to changes with timely interventions.
  • Support Verity with personal care, communication and social activities.
  • Work closely with Verity’s family, Case Manager, and multidisciplinary team including therapists.
  • Maintain care records, update care plans, manage rotas, supervise staff and oversee training and development.
  • Bring clinical expertise, warmth and strong leadership to Verity’s daily life and to support her care team.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with current NMC registration and post-registration experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in complex care, brain injury or community nursing.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with experience of managing or leading a team.
  • Ability to manage clinical tasks and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, empathetic and cheerful approach to care.
  • Experience formulating appropriate care plans and risk assessments for clients.
  • Ability to develop an appropriate range of activities and willingness to participate in outdoor activities.
  • Good understanding of maintaining confidentiality and respecting client and family privacy.
  • Confident with using IT and able to keep adequate written records of care given.
  • Full driving licence with ability to drive client’s automatic transmission wheelchair-adapted vehicle.
  • Willing to travel and able to work flexible hours, sometimes at short notice.
Role Details
  • Hours:

    Full-time – approximately 40-42 hours per week (example: 30 hours care per week and 12 hours admin, to be worked flexibly). Day shifts available.
  • Pay: £22 - £25 per hour depending on shift (varies by pattern: days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays).
  • Driver required:
    Essential, to drive Verity’s wheelchair-adapted vehicle, automatic.
  • Accommodation (while on duty):
    Own room with toilet and tea-making facilities for sleeping night shifts.
  • Pets:
    The family have 1 small dog in the carer’s room.

    Initial telephone interview, followed by face-to-face if shortlisted.

    ASAP (subject to checks).

Verity is a vibrant individual living independently with a dedicated team of Support Workers providing 24-hour care. She has an acquired brain injury and is registered blind; care team communicates via body language, facial expressions and descriptive support. She enjoys social activities and outings, including cinema, theatre and shopping, and has her own wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
