Control Systems Engineer
Altera Recruitment Group is partnered with a high-growth engineering and manufacturing business undergoing significant expansion. The company operates at the cutting edge of advanced production technology, designing and building complex, high-performance manufacturing equipment for demanding industrial environments. This is a hands-on engineering role offering exposure to new production lines, novel machinery, and end-to-end control systems delivery within a modern R&D and manufacturing setting.
As a Control Systems Engineer, you’ll be part of a specialist engineering team responsible for the design, development and commissioning of electrical and control systems for complex production equipment. The role blends technical design work with on-the-floor involvement during build, installation and commissioning phases.
The responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer include:
* Specify, design and support the delivery of electrical and control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment and new production lines.
* Work with PLC-based control systems, motion control, drives, safety systems and machine monitoring solutions.
* Support commissioning, fault-finding and optimisation activities across both new and existing manufacturing assets.
* Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, production teams, suppliers and contractors to deliver engineering work packages.
* Produce clear technical documentation including specifications, drawings, test plans and handover materials.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience working with automated control systems, electrical power distribution and circuit fault-finding.
* Comfortable working across both design/specification and hands-on implementation on the shop floor.
* Working knowledge of PLC-based systems and motion control.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
What this is offering:
* A highly competitive salary, depending on experience
* Company bonus scheme
* Industry-leading pension and other benefits
This is an opportunity to join an engineering organisation investing heavily in technology, innovation and manufacturing capability. You’ll work on technically challenging equipment, gain exposure to full lifecycle projects and develop your career within a business that values engineering-led problem solving
