Overview
This is a seasonal/temporary position, February – August, in the MBL Division of Education focused on supporting advanced research training courses. The incumbent will assist the administrative team in course operations, particularly covering responsibilities related to processing purchase orders, monitoring shipments, organizing course inventories, and entering and maintaining data related to purchases and course activities. Responsibilities will also include the delivery and pick up of course equipment.
MajorDuties
- Primary point of contact to all courses to include faculty, course managers and course assistants in the procurement of course consumables and equipment.
- Place purchase orders for supplies and consumables for education courses
- Coordinate and communicate with course assistants to unpack, store, and track course orders and make any required adjustments
- Coordinate the receipt, inventory, set-up, breakdown, and storage of course materials and equipment, as needed.
- Outstanding clerical skills required including, but not limited to, computer systems (particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and database management)
- Ability to work independently and to navigate through vendor websites
- Desire to train users in a process to collect equipment/lab information
- Good customer service skills, excellent organizational and office skills especially under demanding situations while working with tight time restrictions/schedules.
- Must be self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to shift priorities. The successful candidate must be professional and organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with scientific consumables and equipment is desirable
- Currently enrolled or graduated from a college or university working towards a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related science.
- Worker must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, use fingertips, grasp, talk, read, hear, taste/smell, perceive attributes of objects by touch, and perform repetitive motions.
- Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading
