Substitute Teacher; Toddler​/Preschool

Overview

Winfield Children's House is seeking kind and nurturing individuals to act as substitute teachers in both our Toddler (18 months-3 years) and Early Childhood (3-6 year old) programs.

Hours vary between 8:00-4:30 on an as-needed basis, with a minimum shift of 4 hours. Full-day coverage includes a paid 30 minute lunch.

The substitute teacher will join a classroom team and work with young children in our Toddler and Early Childhood programs. The position requires a thoughtful, nurturing, conscientious individual who has worked with young children before and is passionate about early childhood education. You will be part of a classroom team with experienced Montessori guides and contribute to a teaching environment that supports early childhood education and Montessori philosophy in practice.

The candidate must have current Maine CHRC and Maine DHHS Background checks. Instructions for obtaining these checks can be found on the State of Maine website at these linked pages. Experience in a Montessori classroom is a plus, but more important is a recognition of the importance of early childhood education and a curiosity to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and putting it into practice.

Winfield is located in Falmouth, just north of Portland, Maine. Recently celebrating its 35th anniversary, Winfield currently serves approximately 100 students from 16 months through 6 years old.
