Manage a team that maintains cloud infrastructure for global data center operations! AWS is looking for technology managers with people management experience, a strong technical understanding, and the drive and vision to elevate AWS Data Center Operations. The successful candidate will have experience creating and devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This role involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on‑call rotation.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Team members collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.
Key Job Responsibilities- Operationally responsible for a data center, prioritizing and assigning trouble tickets to technicians and operators.
- Manage the performance of a diverse team of data center operation professionals across multiple locations.
- Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools accordingly.
- Recruit and train data technicians to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Ensure effective management of day‑to‑day data center operations, including queue management, 24/7 shift arrangements, and hardware logistics.
- Act as the subject‑matter expert across all aspects of data center operations, retaining a fast learning cycle.
- Measure and meet all operational KPIs and metrics.
- Inspire and guide improvements in team processes, technology innovation, and automation.
- Serve as call leader for large‑scale events (outages) and manage event workflows.
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
- Maintain the on‑call schedule, coordinating absences and vacations.
- Strive continuously to improve the quality and quantity of services and the customer experience.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility becomes operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and the operational status of the assigned facility.
- 4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or an equivalent field.
- 2+ years of operations and on‑call support for data center facilities, mission‑critical plants, or production facilities.
- 2+ years of team management experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of cross‑functional work with technical and non‑technical teams.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- Experience with Linux, networking protocols, and networking administration and troubleshooting.

The base salary range for this position is USD 78,400.00 – annually (Fairless Hills, PA). Your Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
