Manage a team that maintains cloud infrastructure for global data center operations. AWS is looking for technology managers with people‑management experience, strong technical understanding, and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience creating and devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on‑call rotation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operationally responsible for a Data Center, prioritizing and assigning trouble tickets to technicians and operators.
  • Manage performance of a diverse team of data center operation professionals across multiple locations.
  • Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools accordingly.
  • Recruit, train, and staff data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Ensure effective day‑to‑day data center operations, including queue management, 24/7 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert across all aspects of data center operations.
  • Track and achieve all operational KPIs and metrics.
  • Guide improvement in team processes, technology innovation, and automation.
  • LeadURED large‑scale events (e.g., outages) and act as the call leader.
  • Improve workflows and throughput for data center operations.
  • Document and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
  • Maintain the on‑call schedule and coordinate absences and vacations.
  • Continuously strive to improve the quality and quantity of services provided, enhancing customer experience.
  • Work independently and manage teams effectively, prioritizing tasks and maintaining organizational skills.
  • Create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site‑level projects, and resolve complex problems within the data center space.
  • Operate in a 24/7 environment.
Essential Requirements
  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as required.
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility.
Qualifications
  • ≥4 years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
  • ≥2 years of operations and on‑call support for data center facilities, mission‑critical plants, or production facilities.
  • ≥2 years of team management experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of cross‑functional experience with tech and non‑tech teams.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems; familiarity with Linux, networking protocols, and network administration.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
