We are seeking a Data Center Facility Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within Amazon data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center, maintaining high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs at a minimum.
This equipment supports mission‑critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems that include switch gear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet‑cell batteries. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, motors, fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

- Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high quality work with no impact to internal/external customers.
- Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians and support their career development.
- Engage in improvement projects, driving them from conception to completion.
- Coordinate daily with third‑party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
- Act as the after‑hours on‑call Data Center Facility Manager, responding to any issues and managing investigation, mitigation, and recovery.
- Prioritize and assign tasks, coach and create documentation, guide and train staff on best practices.
- Monitor and control expenditures, ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Drive improvement projects from conception to completion, collaborating with support teams.
- Coordinate with third‑party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs.
- Communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Respond to out‑of‑hours emergency calls.
- Act as an escalation point for facilities‑related issues, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
- Prioritize team development and well‑being while achieving operational goals.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture, empowering team members.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving objects of varying weights.
- Work in noisy environments when required, using approved PPE.
- Coordinate and manage operations across multiple locations/sites.
- Provide on‑site management for builders, five days a week (no remote work).
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
- 5+ years of work in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation experience.
