Part-Time Registered Nurse – CVICU - Shift: Rotating Days/Nights (2 x12-hour shifts)
The CVICU is a 24-bed, high-acuity unit located in Falls Church, VA, specializing in the care of patients post-cardiac and vascular surgery, heart and lung transplant, advanced heart failure, and other complex diagnoses requiring intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions. Clinical Excellence and Real-Time Support
- Dedicated Charge Nurse:
Always out of patient assignments to lead clinical operations, support staff, and ensure high reliability throughout the shift. - Advanced Resource RN:
Device-trained and available on every shift to provide high-acuity support (ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT), cover lunches, assist with admissions, and serve as an in-unit mentor. - Mid-Shift RNs and Clinical Technicians:
Surgical throughput is supported with a dedicated mid-shift RNs and two CTs per shift to ensure optimal staffing coverage, workflow balance, and patient safety.
- Full-Time Clinical Educator:
Provides onboarding, individualized learning pathways, certification preparation (e.g., CCRN), and hands-on training. - Mentorship & Fellowship Support:
Structured fellowship programs support nurses new to critical care, and experienced RNs are encouraged to grow through preceptorship, charge roles, and leadership pathways. - Support for Clinical Ladder Advancement:
Engagement in shared governance, quality projects, and continuing education are celebrated and supported.
