Job Description

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Labor and Delivery Unit, as well as circulate the OBED. This role will be Part-time Night Shift: 2x12 hour shifts per week; 7:00am-7:00pm

Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient/family-centered care to address patient needs.
  • Advocates for patients’ rights and resolves issues to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Coordinates care across disciplines, ensuring effective transitions.
  • Documents patient care activities and assists team members.
  • Evaluates care processes and adjusts plans based on patient progress.
  • Makes clinical decisions based on data, experience, and intuition.
  • Fosters cooperation and respect among clinical disciplines.
  • Guides staff in assessing patient learning needs and outcomes.
  • Serves as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor, and supervises patient care activities.
  • Utilizes care delivery standards, integrating communication, technology, and collaboration.
  • Pursues ongoing professional development and maintains Continuing Education Records.
  • Contributes to performance improvement initiatives and evaluates clinical outcomes.
Registered Nurse (RN) Additional Requirements
  • Work schedule: Part‑time Night Shift: 2x12 hour shifts per week, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. | 8 hours of on‑call per 6‑week schedule | 3 weekend shifts per 6‑week schedule
  • Education : BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Experience
    :
    Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care units, or completion of a critical care fellowship.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start. For Critical Care Units:
    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – within 6 months. For Pediatric Units:
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support – within 6 months. For Infusion Center Units:
    Obtain chemo card – within 3 months of hire.
  • Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license.
Registered Nurse (RN)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of recent inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) experience on a Labor and Delivery Unit.
