As a front‑line leader, the RN Unit Supervisor is accountable for delivering reliable results related to quality and best practices to improve the unit’s clinical operations. The role embraces research, supports shared governance, and acts as a role model in delivering “Service Always” and prioritizing patient experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct high‑quality shift huddles communicating strategic priorities, gaps, and results of rounding.
  • Run or delegate safety huddles and environmental and safety rounding, ensuring completion where required.
  • Round on staff continually, removing or escalating barriers to quality care and enhancing staff engagement.
  • Review core measures, KPIs, and metrics; participate in analysis and action‑plan development for systematic improvements.
  • Participate in emergency and safety preparedness drills and trainings as required.
  • Participate in simulation labs and operating room safety stand‑downs.
  • Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards and team knowledge of related standards.
  • Support unit‑based quality improvement work and strategic outcomes through professional decision‑making.
  • Serve as a role model in communication with patients, diffusing difficult situations, and facilitating resolution.
  • Act as a Physician Liaison and primary information resource for the unit(s).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure discharge planning supports smooth patient flow.
  • Accurately assess current state and forecast staffing/supply needs, proactively resolving discrepancies.
  • Contribute to annual evaluations, disciplinary processes, and the interview/hiring process for new staff.
  • Provide individual coaching, counseling, and advocacy to clinical staff, promoting mutual trust.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements

Experience:

At least one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience; preferably more than two years specific to the unit focus.

Education:

BSN or MSN preferred;
Associate Degree RNs accepted if within one year of completing BSN.

Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days of employment.

Certification: BLS by the American Heart Association required; specialty certification within one year of hire or eligible within one year.
