Responsibilities- Collect and/or dispose of refuse, yard debris, recyclables, and other solid waste materials;
- Clear sidewalks of ice and snow;
- Clean facilities, including removing trash and litter;
- Load and unload trucks;
- Perform routine building maintenance tasks (e.g., replace light bulbs, move furniture, make minor repairs);
- Repair and maintain walkways, gutters, and downspouts;
- Apply pesticides, fertilizer, and other chemicals under supervision of a certified pest applicator;
- Maintain and repair grounds and turf (i.e., reconditioning, vegetation control, and repairs);
- Repair irrigation systems (i.e., sprinklers, valves, and pipes);
- Perform various landscaping tasks, including propagating beds, edging, mulching, and planting;
- Perform minor building and/or equipment repair and/or maintenance;
- Operate tractors and mowers, chain saws, or cutoff saws;
- Engage in safe working practices and comply with safety programs and guidelines;
- Report unsafe working conditions;
- Comply with safety competencies.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance of asphalt and concrete;
- Working knowledge of small equipment (weed e‑tapper, push mower, power tamper, chain saw, concrete saw, gas generator);
- Basic knowledge of air compressors and pneumatic tools;
- Knowledge of and ability to perform basic scheduled maintenance on various types of hand tools and machinery;
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices;
- Ability to perform duties requiring manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to operate various types of motor vehicles;
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
- Ability to work outside with regular exposure to severe weather, noxious fumes, high dust levels;
- Ability to perform medium‑to‑heavy manual labor;
- Ability to comprehend and comply with safety practices;
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with customers, employees, and supervisors.
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade.
Special RequirementsComplete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience performing maintenance activities on golf courses and parks using a tractor with attachments, riding mowers, and small equipment;
- Experience with chainsaws, weed‑trimmers, edgers, blowers, and walk‑behind mowers;
- Experience with repair and maintenance of outdoor maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, and landscape equipment.
Ability to stand for extended periods; wear respirator and other safety equipment; bend and stoop; mount/dismount various grounds‑care equipment; lift up to 50 pounds. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
