Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Decedent Affairs Coordinator to join the team! This role will be PRN, weekend days, 8:30am‑2:30pm.

• Documents information in support of complex case management.
• Manages the Decedent Affairs process and communicates information to the Decedent Affairs team.
• Makes determinations on each death and reports all appropriate deaths to the County Medical Examiner and/or State Medical Examiner in accordance with state laws.
• Manages the activities of patient deaths from the time of death to the final disposition of remains.
• Performs critical identification functions to ensure the right body goes to the right funeral home.
• Acts as gatekeeper for morgue admissions/removals while ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission and Red Rules requirements to reduce legal liability of the hospital.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree (or relevant experience in lieu of a degree equivalent to 4 years).
• Years of
  
  Experience:
  
  Two years of experience in healthcare, social work, or a science field setting.

• Decedent Affairs experience preferred.
