Part‑Time After School Teacher

Congressional School is seeking part‑time After School Teachers to join our Extended Hours Program (EHP) for the 2025‑2026 school year. The EHP program provides a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students in Preschool through 8th Grade during after‑school hours. Our staff play a key role in creating a warm, inclusive community where each child is known, supported, and celebrated.

This is a part‑time position, working Monday‑Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and reports to the Auxiliary Programs Manager.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide a fun, nurturing, and safe after‑care experience for all students.
  • Plan and lead age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Actively supervise and engage with students during play and structured activities.
  • Prepare and serve snacks, assist children as needed during snack time.
  • Fulfill assigned duties such as supervising study hall, playground, or crosswalk.
  • Communicate promptly about any hazards, maintenance needs, or concerns.
  • Adhere to all state and school licensing requirements and safety regulations.
  • Address and support individual student needs, including medical or behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to children and families.
  • Support the School's mission, vision, and core values through daily interactions and responsibilities.
  • Complete a minimum of 16 hours of Early Childhood Education training annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least six months of experience working with children.
  • Ability to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A growth mindset.
