Physical Therapist Assistant – Per Diem

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work as part of a team that co‑treats and puts patients first in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
We are currently looking for a per diem Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a professional who wants flexibility in their schedule and wants to be part of an amazing, uplifting environment.
Located in Fallon, Nev., Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25‑bed licensed hospital offering a comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada, including emergency care and ambulance coverage over more than 5,900 square miles.
Position SummaryThis position is responsible for the administration of physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, in accordance with physician referral, state and local organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. The role demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Core Functions- Administers physical therapy treatment according to the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist; implements individualized treatment plans considering the patient's physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age‑specific needs; provides skilled treatment safely; monitors effectiveness; collaborates with the Physical Therapist to modify plans as needed; participates in discharge planning; engages patients and families in decision‑making; and provides ongoing education to all providers.
- Demonstrates understanding of scope of practice; documents communication with supervising Physical Therapist; reports significant changes in patient function or tolerance to treatment; recommends modifications of orders; and refers patients when advanced skills are required.
- Documents according to departmental and regulatory standards; completes documentation within established time frames; records innovative and individualized treatment techniques and goals; and reassesses goals per policies.
- Communicates pertinent patient information to ensure optimal follow‑through; reports results and progress to physicians, nurses, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team; defends treatment rationale with evidence.
- Shows adaptability in caseload, scheduling, and staffing; initiates assistance in other patient care areas; and takes responsibility for all patient care needs.
- Supervises and delegates tasks to achieve safe, quality, cost‑effective care; trains and orientations new personnel; and ensures competency before delegation.
- Attends required staff meetings; follows up for information; participates in departmental and facility process improvement; and meets productivity standards.
- Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate care.
- Graduated from a Physical Therapy Assistant program accredited by APTA or an equivalent program.
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant license from the state of practice (if required).
- Board‑Level L.V. (BLS) certification.
- One year of experience as a Therapy Assistant.
