Purpose

Perform various excavation activities with a backhoe which will include small excavations, trench excavations, back filling, hoisting and lifting operations. Must also be able to perform various tasks associated with the use of pneumatic tools as well as the physical labor associated with pipeline construction and maintenance activities which include but are not limited to new main and service installations, replaced mains and services, leak pinpointing, leak repairs and asphalt restoration.

Accountabilities
  • Operate skid loader
  • Operate various pneumatic tools including but not limited to pavement breakers, rock drills, piston scalers, drilling and tapping equipment
  • Operate gasoline powered compactors and generators
  • Operate various hand tools included but not limited to sledge hammers, wrenches, plunger bars, pry bars, various tapping equipment
  • Perform general maintenance and leak repair work on main and service lines under the presence of low and high pressure blowing gas
  • Perform asphalt restoration on road excavations of various sizes
  • Inspect backhoe daily for proper operation and adequate fluid levels.

Interpret main and service records from various maps, records and prints

Education and Experience
  • Must have a High School Diploma
  • Must have prior experience in construction activities related to the natural gas industry
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess a valid 2A/ 1C MA hoisting operator license
  • Must be able to operate the machine to the satisfaction of the area supervisor within the required 180 days
  • Must possess a Class A CDL driver’s license
  • Must possess DOT health card
  • Must have the ability to wear a respirator and or a supplied air breathing apparatus
