The Deli & Cod Fish Supervisor (Bacalhau Specialist) is a blended leadership role responsible for overseeing deli operations while serving as the in-house expert for our charcuterie items & dried and salted codfish. This position balances hands-on product expertise, exceptional customer service, and team leadership, ensuring both departments operate efficiently while honoring cultural authenticity, food safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate deli and codfish staff to ensure efficient operation of both departments
- Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with inquiries, orders, and resolving any issues in a timely manner
- Assist with training and develop team members
- Handle, portion, and package Bacalhau
- Educate customers on cuts, soaking, and preparation
- Handle, portion, and package cheese & charcuterie meats
- Maintain displays, pricing, and inventory
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness
- Manage waste, shrink, and seasonal demand
- Collaborate with store leadership to optimize departmental performance, control costs, and achieve financial targets
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, motivation, and professional growth among team members
- Deli, seafood, or specialty food experience required
- 1–2 years leadership experience preferred
- Strong food safety knowledge
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods
- Flexible availability
- Bacalhau or Portuguese cuisine experience
- In depth knowledge of cheese & cured meats
- Seafood or specialty foods background
- Portuguese language skills
