Overview
SUMMARY:
Administers a variety of therapeutic procedures and agents utilized in the short and long term rehabilitation of in and out patients (orthopedic, neurological, pulmonary, cardiac, medical and surgical) within the guidelines set forth in physician orders. - Patient Care:
Demonstrates patient care skills including documenting diagnoses, observing indications and contraindications, evaluating emotional and physical condition, explaining treatments to patients/families, formulating measurable goals and individualized treatment plans, integrating evaluation findings into plans, and using age-appropriate therapeutic techniques. - Monitors treatment effectiveness and adjusts treatment plans accordingly; initiates conversations with physicians and other health care providers for optimal service provision.
- Documentation:
Maintains records pertinent to patient evaluations, ensures timely and complete documentation of patient care, reflects patient response to treatment, and maintains current physician orders. - Evaluation:
Selects appropriate databases and tests, interprets information from medical records and patients, and recommends changes to physicians as needed. - Acts as a Resource:
Provides input into supervision of students, demonstrates ability to teach techniques, and supports staff through in-services and departmental tasks. - Interpersonal:
Interacts with peers in a kind and professional manner; maintains an approachable style of interaction; assists other staff as needed; supports patient safety practices as identified by relevant quality standards. - Service and Diversity:
Demonstrates service-excellence skills and respects the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and employees; recognizes and respects cultural diversity; uses interpreters when needed. - Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required Qualifications:
0-3 years experience preferred. New Graduates considered. - Communication and interpersonal skills; organizational and computer skills; safe application of modalities; assessment of patient response to modalities; development of appropriate therapeutic exercise programs; familiarity with hospital/departmental policies and protocols.
- Ability to educate others regarding rehab-related issues; ability to instruct hospital staff in appropriate follow-up.
- Bachelor s Degree in Physical Therapy required.
- Current MA license or eligibility; current BLS certification preferred.

- Standing and walking 75% or more.
- Lifting 10 to over 100 lbs 50-75%.
- Use of hands to finger, feel, reach; climbing or balancing 25-50%; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases; moderate noise level; vision requirements as specified.
Gowns and gloves are used as part of safety protocols.
Pay Range: $35.20-$58.07
