SUMMARY:
Cross‑trained in the role of Health Unit Coordinator and Nursing Assistant based on the needs of the department. Responsibilities are a combination of providing direct care and technical assistance to the RN and MD and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling, and supply functions necessary for the operation of the department. - Assemble and label charts for incoming patients
- Transcribe physician orders accurately, neat, and timely
- Notify Patient Care Manager of any lack of information on orders
- Enter all orders from lab, X‑ray, etc. into the computer
- Ensure each order on physician’s order sheet and kardex has corresponding number from computer
- Secure records from previous admission as needed
- Prepare chart for transfer and secure photocopies as needed
- Prepare chart for discharge and ensure chart is complete
- Notify Patient Care Manager of any lack of documentation at discharge
- Enter discharge into the computer when patient has left unit
- List all new admissions, diets, changes or discharges on kardexes and enter necessary information into computer
- Return medications removed from cassette at discharge to pharmacy
- Check medication supplies daily, obtain necessary meds from pharmacy, and supply form CSR
- Notify appropriate physicians of any consultations, discharges, transfers or expirations
- One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred or a student nurse who has completed two years of nursing school
- Medical secretary experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Bilingual a plus
High School diploma or GED;
Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
Pay Range: $19.16 – $27.98
