## Job Advert Join Our Facilities Team – Senior Cook In this leadership role, you’ll manage daily catering operations in one of our larger kitchens, ensuring high-quality food, safe working practices, and excellent customer service for pupils, staff, and visitors.

What You’ll Do:

* Plan menus, prepare and cook meals, including those for transport to other sites
* Supervise and support Catering Assistants, manage rotas and on-the-job training
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, hygiene, and allergen control procedures
* Oversee stock control, equipment checks, and ordering of supplies
* Handle budgets, cash, and transactions using the Council’s systems
* Provide meals that meet nutritional standards and dietary needs

What We’re Looking For:

* City & Guilds 706 Part 1 and 2 (or equivalent)
* Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* Experience in a similar supervisory kitchen or catering environment
* Knowledge of current Health & Safety and food safety regulations
* Basic numeracy, literacy, and IT confidence
* A mentoring approach to team development

32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am to 2.30pm (1/2 hour unpaid break)

* Contract:

Permanent, Full Year
* Line Management:
Responsible for a team of Catering Assistants
* Reporting to:
Building Services Officer
* Lead a respected team delivering valued public services
* Training and development opportunities
* A key role in supporting children’s wellbeing and daily experience

Successful candidates must gain and maintain PVG scheme membership.
