Job PurposePorters ensure that all types of buildings are neat, clean, free from clutter, and safe. Porters will pick up trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, or use industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors, clean, and stock bathrooms.
Responsibilities- Complete assigned tasks within the required time limit or within company’s expectations as directed by the customer.
- Perform cleaning tasks based on the defined scope of work and customer requests, including:
- Empty wastebaskets and replace liners as needed.
- Dust/clean tops of office furniture, desks, and tables.
- Vacuum all carpeting.
- Spot‑clean soiled areas as needed.
- Clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals.
- Clean counters, mirrors, and fixtures.
- Sweep and damp mop floor with disinfectant.
- Spot‑clean walls, partitions, and doors.
- Refill all restroom dispensers as needed.
- Wipe/clean all table tops and chairs.
- Wipe/clean vending machines and appliances.
- Clean sink and damp mop tile floor.
- Sweep and spot mop tile floors.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Work safely and within guidelines.
- Wear uniform at required worksites.
- Use floor machines for vacuuming and carpet cleaning within proper operating guidelines.
- Perform repetitive work according to set procedures and pace.
- Attend periodic training and safety meetings when required.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in a similar or related role.
- Interpersonal skills: friendly and pleasant.
- Mechanical skills: understand how to operate industrial equipment such as floor buffers, industrial floor washers, and fix small building problems (e.g., leaky faucets or faulty light switches).
- Maintain a neat appearance; uniform required at some worksites.
- Be able to understand and anticipate client needs.
- Be punctual.
- Understand and read English; some positions require the ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Listening and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic custodial duties and responsibilities.
- Read and communicate in English.
- Require physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive motion involving bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting.
- Operate small power tools.
- Stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn, and reach into areas not fully air‑conditioned.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including climbing/descending stairwells and ladders.
- Work independently in stressful environments.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
- May be responsible for entering customer facilities that require background screening.
