The primary purpose is to provide each assigned patient with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the patient's assessment, plan of care and care plan, as may be directed by supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications- Education, certification, and/or licensure:
Current WV Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed, must be obtained within 3 months of hire. - Successfully pass WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check (where applicable).
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- High school education or GED required.
- Experience:
One year nursing assistant experience in long term care preferred.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing nursing duties throughout the work shift.
- Must be able to lift, move, and position patients of all weights, with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
- Hearing within normal range is required. (i.e.: to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors, etc.)
- Visual acuity must be within normal range.
- Must be able to perform heavy work:
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps, and explosive gases.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
- Exposure to toxic gas, fumes, and odors.
- Exposure to high stress and constant interruptions.
- Exposure to electrical current.
- Work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
- Ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Effective reading and comprehension skills.
- Strong communications skills, written and verbal.
- Math skills for calculation of medications.
