Position: BRICK MASON, PAVER INSTALLER/CARPENTER II
Under the supervision of the Streets & Facilities Supervisor, the employee is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining brick, stone, and concrete pavement surfaces for the public infrastructure projects, parks, sidewalks, and other city-owned properties. The employee also constructs concrete forms for sidewalk installation and repair, storm drains, and curbs throughout the City. Employee receives assignments from supervisor and is responsible for ensuring materials, equipment, and supplies are obtained for work assignment.
The employee organizes project assignments and maintains records and daily logs for the duration of an assignment. The employee performs manual labor, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting. Work is performed under established procedures with regular inspections during progress with final inspection of completed work. This is a fully qualified job in the construction and maintenance job classification. The employee may also operate equipment on a job site to the level the employee is trained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
General Masonry
Reviews and follows blueprints and building plans to ensure work meets the needs of the City.Estimates time and materials required to complete a project.Lays bricks, pavers, and stones for sidewalks, walkways, patios, and decorative surfaces.Construct and repair retaining walls, curbs, and other masonry structures.Prepare surfaces by excavating, leveling, and setting forms as needed.Mix, pour, and finish concrete and mortar to specifications.Ensure work meets city standards, safety regulations, and project deadlines.Builds scaffolding and other construction structures to support projects.Maintain and operate hand tools, power tools, and other masonry equipment safely and effectively.Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and durability.ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
Street Construction and Maintenance Work
Employee performs concrete form layout and constructs forms for sidewalk repair, storm drains, curbing, and drain boxes. May operate various equipment in support of street maintenance operations.
Reviews construction blueprints for correctness.Takes measurements and estimates required wood and materials.Shoots elevations and determines correct slope to ensure proper flow will be achieved.Measures and cuts materials to build forms for concrete pours.Spreads, rakes, and finishes concrete to complete a pour.Operates select pieces of equipment to support street repair and maintenance such as dump truck, boom truck, backhoe, and front‑end loader.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Assists with City special events such as placing barricades and barriers.Assists with traffic control as assigned.Responds to emergency calls during hurricanes, inclement weather, or other emergency situations.Performs other job‑related duties as required or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a high school diploma or GED.Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the masonry field; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities commensurate with the requirements of this job.Possess a current and valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain this license within six (6) months of employment; must be insurable.Ability to work non‑standard hours and be on‑call.Ability to travel overnight.Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check and an initial drug screen.KNOWLEDGE,
