We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law including but not limited to personal injury, insurance law, workers compensation, and property damage. This role requires excellent legal research and drafting skills, as well as the ability to litigate effectively on behalf of our clients.
The Attorney will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and representation while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Client Consultation:
- Meet with potential clients to discuss the facts of their cases and assess legal options.
- Advise clients on their legal rights and potential outcomes.
- Conduct thorough investigations to gather evidence, such as police reports, medical records, and witness testimonies.
- Collaborate with experts (e.g., medical professionals, accident reconstruction specialists) to strengthen the case.
- Legal Research & Drafting:
- Perform legal research to ensure up-to-date knowledge of personal injury laws, regulations, and case precedents.
- Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, settlement agreements, and appeals.
- Negotiations:
- Negotiate settlements with insurance companies, defendants, or opposing counsel to ensure fair compensation for clients.
- Represent clients in alternative dispute resolution processes, such as mediation or arbitration.
- Court Representation:
- Represent clients in civil litigation, including trial preparation, presenting cases in court, and cross-examining witnesses.
- Advocate on behalf of clients in settlement conferences, hearings, and trials.
- Case Management:
- Manage multiple client cases simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
- Client Communication:
- Keep clients informed about case developments, settlement offers, and trial progress.
- Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the legal process.
- Billing and Documentation:
- Accurately track time and bill clients for services rendered, following firm policies regarding billing practices.
- Maintain thorough records of all communications, filings, and case-related documentation.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active state bar membership and license to practice law in Alabama and Mississippi.
- Strong understanding of personal injury laws, tort law, and civil litigation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive client situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Experience in negotiations and courtroom litigation.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
Skills:
- Previous experience in working with insurance companies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of injury-related medical treatments.
- Proficiency in legal case management software.
- Multilingual skills can be a plus, depending on client demographics.
- Office-based with visits to court, medical facilities, or client meetings.
- Some travel may be required for depositions, meetings, or court appearances.
- Flexible hours may be required to meet client and case deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
- Empathy and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
- Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time management skills.
- A tenacious, results-driven attitude with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.
