Adult Outpatient Programs provide the least restrictive level of care where adults may receive clinical interventions aimed at decreasing existing signs and symptoms. Outpatient treatment focuses on recovery, problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization, and/or preventing the need for higher levels of care. Treatment varies widely and depends on the consumer’s presenting symptoms.
Nurses in an outpatient clinic are responsible for successful completion of the admission process, medication administration, regular communication with other clinical staff regarding the consumer’s physical and mental status, deescalating or resolving crisis situations, and providing medication education to consumers and family members.
Essential Functions- Administers medication observing the 6 rights of medication administration and orders medications to pharmacy.
- Completes admission procedures and updates per AltaPointe’s Policy and Procedures, including medical checklist, AIMS, vital signs, medication list, and MARS.
- Interacts with consumers and evaluates needs to ensure accurate information is reported to the treatment team.
- Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary team and actively participates in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
- Provides emergency care as needed (CPR, PMAB, Emergency Medications) following AltaPointe policy and procedures.
- Recognizes crisis states and uses deescalation techniques to resolve situations.
- Adheres to professional code of ethics.
- Demonstrates adult specific competencies.
- Seeks clinical supervision and consultation when needed.
- Accepts and applies suggestions for improvement.
- Actively works to enhance clinical skills.
- Documents in a timely, clear, and concise manner in accordance with AltaPointe policy.
- Maintains legible and accurate records, including consumer problems, treatment goals, and services provided.
- Meets AltaPointe productivity standards.
- Treats consumers with care, dignity, and compassion; respects privacy and confidentiality.
- Works cooperatively with co‑workers and program staff.
- Assists consumers and visitors as needed.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and AltaPointe committees as required.
- Complies with AltaPointe policies and procedures.
- Maintains current state license, renewals, CEU requirements, and attends required in‑services and workshops.
- Frequent standing while handling files, paperwork, and dispensing medication.
- Extended sitting periods up to 1.5–3 hours for documentation.
- Squatting or lunging to stock supplies and retrieve items from file cabinets.
- Fine manipulation for writing, handling paperwork, and dispensing medications.
- Pushing or pulling 1–5 pounds to open file cabinets or place binders on shelves.
- Lifting weights up to 1–5 pounds from floor to overhead.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Current LPN in Alabama required.
