Non-Respiratory Therapist must complete the AASM A-Step Modules and 1638 hours of testing to become eligible to obtain registry and must obtain registry within 24 months of being eligible for registry*
- American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
- National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
Respiratory Therapist must complete the AASM A-Step Modules and 546 hours of testing to become eligible to obtain registry and must obtain registry within 24 months of being eligible for registry*
- American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS)
- Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
- Failure to obtain the registry within that timeframe will require the A-Step to be repeated before taking the exam
B.S. degree in Health or Biological Sciences or training in a related paramedical specialty
Working knowledge of polysomnography
ResponsibilitiesUnder general direction, position is responsible for performing clinical testing of clients in accordance with departmental standards to ensure that quality results are obtained.
Note: Upon attainment of registry as outlined, reassignment to Tech Diagnostic/Polysomnographic Registered or Tech Diagnostic Polysomnographic RT Registered position based on IH guidelines will occur.
