Position Summary
The Warehouse Team Lead is a front-line leader, that occupies a supporting role for the Logistics Supervisor, and bears responsibility for the safety, productivity, and behaviors of all warehouse employees in their area of focus.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide direct support to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Fill in for missing Supervisor (in a limited capacity) during vacations or absences.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Delegate warehouse housekeeping duties and ensure they are performed daily.
- Complete paperwork for international shipments.
- Assist in obtaining quotes for shipments.
- Complete all reporting paperwork regarding material and labor as required.
- Keep work area clean and organized including forklift equipment.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Actively participate and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) - relevant measures (health, safety, and environment) to promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workspace.
- Ensure full adherence to the “Leader Standard Work” profile.
- Support good housekeeping practices in areas of oversight using the 5S principles.
- Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- As required, provide training to new and/or junior employees with a focus on performing work in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner.
- Willing to work overtime as required due to business need.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to lead small groups of people.
- Knowledge of logistics, warehouse operations, inventory control and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of forklift equipment, including their uses.
- Knowledge of ERP, inventory and material handling processes, and quality control.
- Communication Skills
- Active Listening and Verbal Communication. - Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
- Ability to read, understand and comply with work directions, training manuals, safety rules, standard operating procedures.
- Capable of establishing clear priorities and meeting goals.
- Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Employee must be able to stand for the full duration of the shift (typically 8-10 hours each).
- Must be able to frequently walk, bend, crouch, climb intermittently 8-10 hours per day.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years’ experience in a warehouse environment, as a lead.
- Previous experience in a leadership role strongly preferred.
- Previous IFS experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs
- Frequently exposed to moving vehicles
- Noise level is usually moderate to high
